This may seem sudden, but are you a "good person"?
Q. Dear Mary, I just finished watching the drama "Sweet Magnolias" on Netflix yesterday. The characters cause various problems, but in the end, they're all good people. It was a wonderful drama with the whole town is filled with the colors of blessings. But for some reason, I don't feel satisfied. On the contrary, it even makes a corner of my heart ache. I can't empathize with the characters at all. Am I being cynical? (Jessica, 45)
A. That's an honest question. In fact, the pressure that "good person" puts on others is quite large. If you are surrounded by "good people," you unconsciously become obsessed with the idea that you have to be a "good person." If you don't, you might be ostracized by the group of "good people." First of all, do you think there are truly "good people"? Even people who are called "good people" by those around them are actually pretending to be "good people" by hiding their true feelings. I'll tell you why that is on another occasion.
